Healer at Heart Healing … it's what I do best.

The Same Archetype?

A few days ago I read a post on We Fly Spitfires asking if you always played the same archtype in games or not.  This got me thinking.

My first reaction to this question was yes, of course.  But then I remembered back to my very first MMO: Guild Wars.  My first character was an Elementalist/Monk and my second was a Necromancer/Monk (mainly for the resurrection option).  So though I had some healing and resurrection options I was a damage dealer.

When I began playing World of Warcraft, my very first (of many) characters was a Rogue.  Now I never made it past level 42 but I loved her.  It was at that point that I created a Priest and from then on I've played a healer in any game that followed.  Once I hit max level in WoW and began raiding I knew I loved to heal.

There's still a part of me that loves a good DPS class and whenever I start a new game I usually already have an alt picked out for that purpose.  Though now that I heal, whenever I play a DPS class in a group situation I fret constantly that I'm doing something wrong or I'm terrible.  By facing that fear am I growing as a person?
