Allods Online: Disassembling

Of the seven professions in Allods Online (Disassembling, Mining, Herbalism, Tailoring, Leatherworking, Blacksmithing, and Alchemy) I went with Disassembling.  My reasoning?  I didn't want to have to run around to find Mining or Herbalism nodes.  I can Disassemble straight from my bag as long as I have the required tools.  Lazy, I know.

When I first started Disassembling I didn't know there would be so few items I could actually Disassemble.  That paired with the fact that the UI doesn't tell you if your skill is too low when you try to Disassemble an item caused some confusion.  Looking around the forums I've pretty much got it figured out.

What you CAN Disassemble:

  • Chest/Robe
  • Legs
  • Feet

How do you know if your skill is high enough?

The quickest way is to multiply the item level by 10.  For example: for a level 4 item you need a Disassembling skill of 40, for a level 5 item you need skill level 50, etc.  That's not entirely accurate though.  I've heard someone say you only need to be skill level 31 for a level 4 item, skill level 41 for a level 5 item, etc. I haven't had much chance to experiment with this though.  I'll update this when I've got some hard data.

Edit: At skill level 146 I was able to Disassemble a level 15 item (instead of waiting until skill level 150) so it would seem the 10x rule of thumb isn't correct.  Neither is the second example I gave.

Does higher quality gear return better or more pieces?

As far as I can tell, no.  I've Disassembled grey to green gear and haven't noticed any better returns.  There are times when I seem to get a lot more from just one piece, almost like I crit when I broke down the gear.  I'm currently testing this and will update when I've gotten more information.

Edit: This is straight from the Disassembling trainer, "You should also remember that as the quality of your tools increase, so will the quality of the materials you receive."  Hm.  I'll have to keep an eye out for when I can use the better quality tools.  So far they're still red to me (currently skill level 110).

Edit: You DO get slightly better results with blue quality gear AND higher quality tools.  I consistently get 2 Pieces of Lace and at least one other item instead of just one random item.

-----

The trainer will give you a quest to Disassemble 20 items to jump-start your skill level to 20.  After that, he offers kits of clothing you can buy pretty cheap to help you level your skill.  The first box will get you 3 items of levels 1-4, the second box will get you 3 items of levels 3-7, and the last box will get you 3 items of levels 6-10.  After that it's up to you.  Most people will head off to quartermasters (for reputation gear) and buy that to continue leveling.  That will get pricey pretty quick.  Your best bet?  Either have a friend/guildie leveling up Tailoring or Leatherworking at the same time and they can make items, you can Disassemble them, give the materials back, and keep that process going.

One thing I'm not sure of is the use of the other tools the Disassembling trainer sells.  Currently I'm using Shoddy Pincers (for leather) and Shoddy Scissors (for cloth).  He sells three more types of each but they offer no explanation of why I can't use them.  You CAN buy them though so be careful when clicking around as your bag and bank space is seriously limited.

Edit: It seems the Disassembling tools aren't marked correctly.  Ever 10 character levels you can purchase the next set of tools.  Don't forget to make the trip back at level 20, 30, and 40!

The main gripe I have with Disassembling is extremely low amount of gear you can actually Disassemble.  Shirts are not the same as Chest/Robe pieces and the former can't be broken down.  Same with Hands, Waist, Wrist, Shoulders, and Head gear.  Along with that, the limited bag space will have you selling odd stacks of materials just to make room for the other incoming pieces you get.

Helpful Tips:

  • If you click on an item to Disassemble and nothing happens, don't worry, your skill just isn't high enough.
  • There are some items you get in the beginning that are useless and can be sold to the vendor. (More to be added when I come across them.)
    • Damaged Piece of Cloth
    • Irregular Piece of Cloth
    • Damaged Cloth Ribbon
    • Damaged Scrap of Cloth
    • Damaged Leather Ribbon
    • Damaged Patch of Leather
    • Irregular Patch of Leather
    • Flawed Patch of Leather
    • Damaged Scrap of Leather
    • Irregular Leather Padding
    • Flawed Leather Padding
  • If you're always running out of space, create an alt to mail things to.  It costs a little bit but it's better than losing potential materials.

Since I'm still leveling up Disassembling this piece will be a work-in-progress.  Hopefully you can at least find some help with these tidbits for now.

Now get back in there and craft!

EDIT: As I'm currently not playing anymore, things may have changed since this was written.

  1. Thanks alot! was having trouble playing this new mmo.
But thanks to people like you, there is hope!

  2. I’m having problem finding items for dissassembling. currently at 127. and characte is lvl 24.

Vendor in capital only sell random armour for dissembling for items up to lvl 10. Any 1 knows where to buy higher lvl box? or we have to pay hefty sums in Auction house?

  3. Hey there, Draginfaerie. Thanks for the comment on my previous blog, MMOtaku. I’m now writing my own blog (as opposed to doing it professionally) at The MMOsh Pit.

On to my comment for this post: Love the guide. It’s because of this particular post that my character is now a disassembler. It works wonders when paired with my wife’s character, who’s a tailor. :)

  4. Kenny: I’ve started buying reputation gear to help me level. For Empire, buy the Xadaganian level 11 pants at the Igsh Recruitment Center. That should get you started.

Joel: I’m glad I helped! It’s definitely a bonus pairing with a Tailor or Leatherworker.

  5. I checked out your blog. Nice info and tutorials dear!

Since you’re spending so much time putting together solid information, I decided I would help you out. More to come at some point, if I find myself motivated.

This is all in regards to leather working, though I suspect cloth would be nearly identical.
Damaged grade materials can produce items L2-6. They require just the damaged leather, and then npc materials ranging from 1-7.5 silver in cost, depending on the level.
(note- the higher the level item, as well as which part of body it covers indicates the cost of the npc materials- usually chest and pants cost the most, and boots and belts the least)
Irregular grade leather can produce L7-10 items. They require lace in addition to the leather, and the NPC supplies cost 3-22 silver per item made.
Flawed grade leather can produce L12-16 items. They require lace in addition to the leather, and the NPC supplies cost 7.5-55 silver per item made.
Ordinary grade leather can produce L17-22 items. They require buttons and embroidery in addition to the leather, and the NPC supplies cost 51-138 silver per item made.
Fine grade leather can produce L23-26 items. They require buttons and embroidery in addition to the leather, and the NPC supplies cost 44-330 silver per item made.

  6. I just started playing. Thank you so much for your info!!

I am still have a weird issue though. I bought about 5 kits from the trainer disassembled the first kit then the second, when i got to the third nothing happened. i made sure the lvl of the item was not to high, and that I was using the right tool. I logged out to make sure it wasn’t a connection issue. I am so confused. I am only lvl30 in this profession so should still be able to disasemble these kits right?

  7. What is the best thing to do with the materials? I want to sell them and make some money. Where would the best place be to do that, and what is the best strategy for making money with this skill?

  8. Hi, Draginfaerie. Thanks for your guides – I really enjoy reading them. Recently I posted some info about Disassembling prof on Allodsfan. Hope you’ll find it useful for your char.

  9. Good stuff. I’m stuck on lvl 80 and cant seem to get it up anymore with the use of the boxes; will try the normal green clothes. Also, there is a quest for the empire where you get a scroll for completion, study it, get a kit of disassembling instructions (x10) and then study it again and it says in white *you receive disassembling instructions* but they are not in my bag, or anywhere else, and I dont have any added points in my profession… any1 could shine the light on this thing, would be much appreciated :-)

  10. I’ve invented a good method for avoiding the space problem:

If you plan on auctioning all of your cloth/leather, then you do one at a time.

So you buy 20ish boxes of clothes at your level, then go right to the bank.

Everything leather that comes out you put in your bank until your bank and your bag is completely filled with leather items

Go auction all of your cloth that has 20-15 in the stack

Start dismantling some of your leather so that you can open the rest of your boxes.

Once all of your boxes are opened most of your cloth should be in stacks of 20, everything that isn’t I give to a friend that does tailoring, they really appreciate that, or you can just sell or try to auction the odd stacks or sell to a vendor.

After that vendor all of your useless items

Once all of your cloth is gone, go back to your bank and start in with the leather and auction all of it off in stacks of 20, and give away/vendor all of your other leather

    rinse and repeat

So far I’ve hit lvl 110 just fine using nothing but the fancy clothes from the trainer, and I make about five times what I buy in turnover in auction.

  11. Hi there and thanks for a great guide.

I didn’t see this mentioned so I thought I’d chime in. From what I’ve noticed so far, the formula for knowing if your skill level is high enough is thus:

    10 x item level – 9

So for example, you’ve got a level 14 item in your bag and you want to dis it. Well, to do so you would need to have a skill level of 131:

    10 x 14 = 140 – 9 = 131

Essentailly, every time I reach a 1 level (21 51, 121, etc) I can dis the next level up.

    Hope this helps!
